What are the hottest looks of the season, you ask? Prisoners are making a statement with custom-made frocks featuring sky-high shoulder pads and daring cleavage, and strategically placed caution tape is the newest trend. Did we mention cigarette shades and soda cans are the hottest accessories? OK, not really, but welcome to the world of a Gaga music video.
Lady Gaga's out-of-this-world fashion sense and intense music videos have become her biggest claim to fame. For Gaga's sixth number one hit and second collaboration with Beyoncé, the long-awaited "Telephone" does not disappoint. The Tarantino-esque nine-minute video features the van from Kill Bill and fashion to die for, taken literally by the unfortunate patrons of Gaga's diner.
Haus of Gaga, the design team of which Lady Gaga is creative director, makes most of the outrageous clothing Gaga wears. For "Telephone," the Haus went all out, creating cigarette sunglasses, studded outfits, Gaga's Americana two-piece ensemble and her leopard bodysuit.
"Telephone" includes museum-worthy pieces, such as a telephone on top of Gaga's head; Fred Butler, an up-and-coming designer commissioned by the Haus of Gaga, custom-made the piece. The other phone was a hairpiece designed by Danilo. In fact, almost every item in the video was custom-made; a caution-tape outfit is by Brian Lichtenberg, Viktor & Rolf are the team responsible for a chain jumpsuit, and a killer leather jacket by Search and Destroy.
Let's not forget about Beyoncé, who has come a long way since the pleather jumpsuits from her Destiny's Child days. The diva has made quite a name for herself in the industry with her House of Deréon collection. She continues her unstoppable success with daring outfit choices in her latest videos including "Video Phone" (which also features Lady Gaga). Beyoncé and Gaga rock Thierry Mugler's vintage-inspired looks in the first van scene, and Beyoncé kills it in her bright yellow dress designed by Atsuko Kudo paired with Jeremy Scott's infamous mousetrap sunglasses. Beyoncé and Gaga end the epic video holding hands in cowboy-inspired ensembles by Emilie Pirlot.
Gaga and Honeybee make an unstoppable team, and if they continue on their journey to redefine music and fashion, the world is definitely in for a wild ride. As Gaga says, "Once you kill a cow, you gotta make a burger."
