If you're looking for a mix of the romance of Bollywood films with a modern twist, I Hate Luv Storys is the movie for you. Since the beginning of the 21st century, almost all Bollywood films have been modernized so much that they have lost their culture and values. However, amid the various knockoffs from English movies, I Hate Luv Storys brings back the feel of olden times and movies from when Bollywood movies were truly original.

Jay Dhingra (Imran Khan, Luck)hates love stories even though he works for a director who is famous for his romantic films. Simran Sharma (Sonam Kapoor, Delhi-6) loves Bollywood romances so much that she has made her life into one. She works as an art director for various film companies, mostly for love story sets. Despite their differences, Jay and Simran become the best of friends when they work together on a new film. As Jay and Simran get close, Simran falls in love with him. However, unlike the love stories that she loves so much, her love was unreciprocated. At this point, she had broken up with her fiancé, Raj, but he convinced her to get back together with him. Eventually, Jay realizes he loves Simran back. Will Jay be able to convince her to get back with him or will he let her go and be "happy" with Raj?

I Hate Luv Storys combines old school Bollywood love stories and modern ideas to present an original piece of work. As with most Bollywood films, the movie's soundtrack was fantastic. Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Dadlani sang with their hearts in the songs "Bahara" and "Jab Mila Tu," respectively. These songs, along with the others, have been nicely incorporated into the plot, making the transitions between scenes flow smoothly.

Also, it is interesting to note that while the cast is fairly new to the film industry, the acting in general was decent. Kapoor did adequately considering this was her debut film, and while Khan also did not have much experience in acting, he played Jay well. Though the plot followed the basic "guidelines" for a Bollywood love story, the additional usage of clichés about love stories ironically added to its originality. The script was simple and realistic in terms of romance movies, and while the plot was pretty predictable, the impact of the movie was not lessened.

I Hate Luv Storys is a lighthearted, lovely and comedic romance that is ideal for any person looking to watch a fun movie. You can watch it with a bunch of friends, with your significant other or even by yourself. Although not a flawless Bollywood romance movie, it is definitely up there with the best of them. With the electrifying chemistry between Jay and Simran, genuine corniness, and its magical moments, I Hate Luv Storys is a definite watch.
