It is said that we only use 20 percent of our brains. Imagine a drug that allows access to all 100 percent, or a limitless amount. In the new film Limitless, this type of drug, called NZT, falls into the hands of a writer named Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper). While using this top secret and very powerful narcotic, Morra feels invincible. He is able to obtain any information that his brain has processed throughout his life. He is given a rush of energy and motivation and finishes a book he has been struggling to write in a mere four days. There is no turning back for Morra — he is officially hooked.

With a daily intake of NZT, Morra rises to the top of the financial world and is quickly employed by leading businessman Carl Van Loon (Robert DeNiro). But Morra soon realizes the dangerous consequences of such an intense drug. He must face these consequences, all while fighting to stay alive.

The role of Morra was originally offered to Shia Labeouf, who is very familiar with the action thriller genre. But Cooper proves to be successful despite his lack of experience. He has the perfect amount of charm to capture the spotlight as the main character. Cooper keeps viewers engaged, especially with his blue eyes that become an even more piercing blue while on NZT. Additionally, he shows his versatility, playing both a rugged writer and a sleek businessman. DeNiro, a powerful and booming actor, is a great addition to the cast. The two of them, the young and old, make an interesting combination.

This is a film for anyone that likes a good psychological thriller. The concept is similar to that of Inception in that it deals with the complexities of the mind. Limitless is also visually entertaining, with camera shots that zoom through the streets of Manhattan. The effects let the audience feel that they are on a ride through Morra's use of NZT. Everything on the screen becomes brighter while the wondrous drug is pumping through his body. While the idea of NZT may not be completely realistic, the acting makes it believable. Morra goes from zero to hero instantly, and it's exciting to keep watching him rise. With many intensely intriguing scenes, Limitless is an exhilarating film that leaves the audience with their own rush of adrenaline.
