M83 is the moniker of a spiral galaxy, so it's no surprise that the musical artist named after it produces electronic ambient music. Anthony Gonzalez — the mastermind behind the group — has fervently created music under the name of M83. He has worked with various musical artists and currently records with his brother, Yann Gonzalez, vocalist/keyboardist Morgan Kibby, guitarist/bassist Pierre-Marie Maulini, and Loïc Maurin on the drums. Though Gonzalez works with this group to record and perform, he and his brother handle the composition of the music. M83's music offers a laid-back vibe, with relaxed vocals and atmospheric musical elements.

Gonzalez, a French musician, has released five albums, dating back to 2001. M83's first two albums were written with the help of Nicolas Fromageau. After their sophomore record, Fromageau decided to go his separate way and left the fate of M83 in the hands of Gonzalez. He gracefully accepted the task of keeping the musical project going forward. His last stab at music creation involved composing a score for the French film, Black Heaven. Unimpressed with his own work for the film, he's currently in the middle of writing new music to release to his fans soon. Having already recorded around 20 songs for the album, it is said to be due out sometime in the spring.

M83 has effortlessly progressed with each album — slightly changing up the musical style, yet keeping a soft, chill vibe. Having toured with Kings of Leon in the United Kingdom and The Killers in the United States, M83 has already made ongoing development in popularizing their music. The musical ease emitted from Gonzalez's composition will undoubtedly appeal to listeners.
