Doo Wops and Hooligans provides a beautiful start for new artist Bruno Mars. The debut album by Mars has a very eclectic feel and is very well suited for the summer season. The acoustic guitar and piano that accompanies many of the songs makes for a lot of feel-good music that will leave you smiling when you've finished listening to it.

He serenades the ladies with smooth tracks such as, "Just the Way You Are" and "Our First Time," where he advises to "Just go with it."The true charm of this album might be in the simple, yet relatable lyrics that the album possesses. For instance, one song titled "The Lazy Song"is something everyone can relate to. The song starts off with the lyrics, "Today I don't feel like doing anything," and goes through a day in which you, well, don't feel like doing anything.

Bruno Mars tries out a variety of genres with this album, transitioning from reggae, (which is present in songs such as "Liquor Store Blues"), to songs with a rock feel such as "Runaway," to the pop song that has put him on the map, "Just the Way You Are." And with the last song on the album, titled "The Other Side,"Mars shows that he has a lot more to offer as an artist. One thing will become sure after listening to this album —Bruno Mars is full of promise and is definitely an artist to look out for.
