Post-punk revival band Clinic returns with their sixth studio album Bubblegum. Although the band's harmonies mature with each album, they still continue to maintain a distinctive, recognizable sound. Coming from Liverpool, England, the style used by the British Invasion artists can be heard as an influence throughout the album.

The opening track, titled "I'm Aware," contains beautiful harmonies, an acoustic guitar and string accompaniments that makes for a rich, vibrant song. Lead singer Ade Blackburn has soothing vocals that create a soft melody perfect for creating a relaxed atmosphere.

Bubblegum induces a vintage sound upon its listeners with its abundant usage of distorted guitar sounds accompanied by expressive organ parts. While the album is reminiscent of '60s psychedelic pop, it still emits a very modern, indie feel.

"Another Way of Giving" contains hauntingly alluring instrumentals. With lyrics like, "You give and you take from the promises that you make," the angst of the song can draw a line of empathy to listeners.

"Orangutan" stands out the most on the album. The riveting guitar effects in addition to the excitement and bounciness of Blackburn's voice makes this upbeat track a standout on the album. Despite the fact that this track does not follow suit to the rest of the album's vibe, it still fits in nicely with the rest of them.

The album in entirety amounts to 40 minutes, making it the longest album Clinic has released and it still leaves the listener wanting more. It has a very mellow tone and is a perfect listen for anyone looking to lie in a hammock and watch as clouds pass by.
