Best known for his music on shows like Scrubs and One Tree Hill, Joshua Radin hits home now more than ever with his third album, The Stone and The Tide. As he starts on the 13-song album, Radin strays away from his acoustic tendencies and explores a whole new rock sound. With upbeat drum rhythms and inspirational lyrics, songs like "You're Not As Young" and "Road to Ride On" barely sound like the Radin heard on previous albums. With his voice more powerful than ever, he abandons his whispery tone for full-on, rock belt.

However, as soon as you start to miss his old, sentimental sound, Radin looks back to his folk roots. Songs like "The Rock and The Tide" and "Think I'll Go Inside" perfectly display the style he has been known for. As beautiful and heart-wrenching as his hit single "Fear You Won't Fall," his acoustic ballad "One Leap" depicts a story of him stuck in the past of a relationship and being tentative to move forward. As he sings, "for tomorrow, you're already, gone/and I have to move on," you can't help but to think back on their past break ups.

Radin proves himself to be a very versatile and talented artist as he moves forward in his musical career. He doesn't try too hard to push his new sound, making his transition from folk to rock blend beautifully. Although The Rock and the Tide is not the most original album ever released, Radin makes a genuine effort to reach out and relate to his audience. With The Rock and the Tide sounding this solid, it will be no surprise if his latest songs will make yet another television show in the near future.
