Calling all musicians: If you've ever had an interest in recording music, it's now easier than ever thanks to Studio3NJ. Located on Bayard Street in downtown New Brunswick, this recording studio offers a great opportunity for musical artists, established and aspiring alike. Co-owners Richard and Kate Taylor opened Studio3NJ roughly a year ago with hopes to draw in a full-fledged creative crowd. "We have a full service studio here including multimedia, audio, video and photo, but my cornerstone is audio production and audio engineering," Rich said – and he has quite the impressive résumé to back-up his claims.
Richard Taylor has been in involved in music for the past 10 years, ranging from partaking in his own musical projects to working with other producers, like Rich Oliver and Carlos "C12" Bess. Experience with these producers has undoubtedly made Rich's specialty working with artists interested in recording hip-hop, spoken word, poetry, rock and R&B. He is currently working with former American Idol contestant Antwan Michael who is an "extremely talented new artist that we're really pushing and very excited to work with," commented Taylor.
Kate is Rich's other half and manages the business end of the studio. Her responsibilities include "the fun stuff", like bookkeeping and the studio's website design. Kate and Rich are fervently supportive of local artists, especially current Rutgers students, faculty and alumni – all of whom they offer discount prices to. A Rutgers alumna herself, Kate hopes to draw in quite the crowd of local talent, while keeping a reasonable financial cost in mind for the studio's usage and Rich's engineering. If the duo's willingness to offer price discounts for Rutgers affiliates isn't enough to show their RU appreciation, check out the studio – it's decked out in black and scarlet.
