Super-producer Mark Ronson, known for his remixes and retro-soul collaborations with Amy Winehouse, proves that he can write all-new material with his third studio album, Record Collection. Working with a supporting cast of singers and rappers nicknamed the Business Intl, Ronson creates a near-perfect, jam-worthy mixtape.

"Bang Bang Bang" and "Lose It (In the End)" show Ronson's love for rap and not-so-secret desire to be a b-boy. "Lose It," a track about doomed relationships, features a nice verse from Ghostface Killah, "A few things first/I'm still picking them crazies /You wanna battle a court /Like Kim and Slim Shady?"

Arguably, the strangest track is "Somebody to Love Me," with guest appearances from Boy George and Andrew Wyatt. It features a heavy bass riff, ambient keyboards and background vocals from MNDR, which actually sounds very appropriate for the song. George's glamorous warble balances out Wyatt's semi-nasal crooning.

"Glass Mountain Trust" furthers Ronson's decision to not play it safe. Long-absent R&B singer D'Angelo is let loose from his cage, warning that he's "gonna break down" over and over again. D'Angelo may need a straitjacket, as he incoherently rambles at various points, but "Glass Mountain Trust" is an infectious, psychedelic piece.

Title track "Record Collection" undoubtedly pays homage to '80s new wave, featuring Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran and British rapper Wiley. Playful lyrics make fun of the Age of Excess: "My teeth are bright/And my hair is clean/I wear Paco Rabanne/Like I was Charlie Sheen." Given his penchant for yellow and pink suits with pompadours, Ronson is in his element. Record Collection is hard not to love, considering its mixture of genres and talented artists.
