Shakira's newest album, Sale el Sol, has the potential to be the perfect Latin-Pop album. There are some songs that are perfect, but there are a few that are nothing above ordinary. Regardless, it has something for everyone as it contains a good mix of ballads and upbeat songs.

Shakira goes back to her roots with Sale el Sol because it has a distinct Latin feel. A large portion of the album is in Spanish, yet the songs are still enjoyable to all listeners. Shakira's unique voice makes the album, and, as usual, the beats do not disappoint.

This being her ninth album, Shakira is a seasoned veteran of the music business. Sale el Sol proves that she still has the ability to make great songs. "Mariposas" is the perfect feel-good song. "Gordita" and "Loca" are also phenomenal pop songs and make it impossible not to tap your feet along to the beat. However, there are some less-than-stellar songs on the album, as well. "Rabiosa," featuring Pitbull is a mediocre tune that sounds almost exactly like many of Pitbull's other songs. "Islands" and "Tu Boca" also offer nothing great for listeners to connect to.

Despite a few subpar songs, the album as a whole is definitely a desirable listen. With a couple of songs that will most likely be big club hits, Shakira's presence will once again be felt. Sale el Sol also provides solid ballads in "Antes de Las Seis" and "Lo Que Mas." The majority of the album will not disappoint fans of Shakira, and the few hits on the album may give her a chance to gain some new fans as well.
